My opinion on the film L’Empire des Sens

I remember when I saw L’Empire des Sens years ago and I liked it much more than I do now. The truth is that the beginning has pleasantly surprised me again. Sada Abe (Eiko Matsuda) is a prostitute and servant who has sexual relations with her master. The girl has no qualms about sleeping with an old tramp. Nor does she want to please anyone who looks for her.

But from the relationship with his master, L’Empire des Sens continues to surprise, but this time in an unpleasant way. The passion of the couple goes to extremes that do not excite at all. The man puts an egg in the girl’s ass and then eats it, they sleep with old men and even the girl threatens him with a knife and suffocates him with the aim of achieving more sexual excitement. For all these reasons I think it could have been a great erotic movie, but the sexual detours make it unpleasant.

Criticism of the film L’Empire des Sens

When L’Empire des Sens was published, it became a milestone. To this day it is still among the best films of the genre. In it there is explicit sex, going to an obscene extreme. It speaks of passion and human obsession in a profound way. The girl has no limits when it comes to sex and the man is willing to please her to death. However, with the passing of time, disappoints if one has the intention of seeing a masterpiece, since in these years nothing surprises us. It is a portrait of a couple that destroys itself, until a brutal end… And surprisingly, based on real events. L’Empire des Sens: extreme love.
