Basic instinct

Basic Instinct is a 1992 film directed by Paul Verhoeven, starring Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas. This is one of the best erotic films. 14 years later, the second part came out. Sharon Stone was 48 years old, and she was still the fatal woman of basic instinct.

Basic Instinct Argument

The movie starts when a blonde kills an important man she’s making love to. The police decide to investigate the case and find two suspicious blondes. Then they discover that the murder is similar to the one in a novel, written by the same girlfriend of the murdered rock star.

My Opinion on Basic Instinct

I thought it was a very interesting film because the ultimate suspect in a crime. It makes the investigators hot. She does it with her detailed descriptions of her relationship with her deceased partner and her footwork. Catherine is so self-confident and suggestive that she upsets Nick, the leader of the investigation.

Review Basic Instinct

Reading reviews on the Internet I have come to the conclusion that has very good photography, for the first time takes into account the lighting, texture, atmosphere and color as used in modern cinema. Sharon Stone is incredible (although that goes without saying). The high-pitched scenes are some of the best in cinema. A vertiginous police thriller with a wonderful meat festival. But Nick looks like a very silly policeman. A film halfway between evil and morbidity.

Who’s the killer?

(You should only read this if you have seen the film) It turns out that Catherine (Sharon Stone) was the main suspect at first. The most important people in her life were dead, as she tells in her novels. Then it seemed that the killer was her lover Roxy, another blonde who watched her while she was fucking, maybe because she loved her and was jealous. But the lover died trying to kill Nick and the murders continued. Later it was discovered that Nick’s girlfriend, psychologist Beth, was actually called Lisa and in high school she imitated Catherine, so she could be obsessed with her and try to make reality what she tells in her novels.

Instinto básico

Gus, Nick’s best friend, receives a call from a friend of Catherine and Beth quoting him at the university residence to tell him the whole story of both. Gus goes with Nick, but he stays in the car. He smells something and runs up the stairs, but when Gus arrives he is dead. Then Nick moves around the building until he sees Beth. It looks like he has the murder knife in his pocket and Nick, before he gets close to him, shoots him and kills her. When the police arrive they discover that there is a bag with a blonde wig and the knife with blood on it.

Everything seems clear but when Nick arrives home Catherine is telling him that she misses him and after making love it seems that she wants to kill him, but she regrets at the last moment … And the last image in the film is the knife under the bed. I vote for Catherine, who set Beth up.

Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction

In 2006 a sequel of Basic Instinct came out where the fatal woman returned. Again incarnated in Sharon Stone and Michael Carton-Jones. This time it is Michael (David Morrissey or Philip, the governor, of The Walking Dead), the investigator who takes the case. It wasn’t as good as the first part, but it is curious to see how Sharon Stone preserves the arts of seduction at the age of 48. See the review of Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction.
