Argument by Nymphomaniac. Volume 1

This is the story of a nymphomaniac told by herself. She is told to an old man who picks her up in an alley, wounded and almost unconscious. Her life is full of conflicts and murky relationships, but it keeps an astonishing parallel with the music and aspects of man’s life. There is a 5.5 hour version that will only be shown at cultural events.

Nymphomaniac. Volumen 1

My opinion on Nymphomaniac. Volume 1

I liked Nymphomaniac quite a bit. Volume 1 because it’s a different film. First there is the curiosity to know how the nymphomaniac woman named Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) ended up in the situation in which the man picks her up. On the other hand, she tells her life as chapters that are full of sexual anecdotes, which is more daring than the previous one. The good thing about this is that the story starts when I was a child and gradually goes into adolescence and more adult stages.

Finally the man makes a comparison of music and various aspects of his life with the turbid experiences of the girl, without getting to feel repulsion towards her. All this makes the film interesting, always hoping that new experience will tell us about the nymphomaniac woman. And finally comment that the erotic scenes, rather than show, tell a story, which is the best of the erotic genre.

The critique of Nymphomaniac. Volume 1

The story of Nymphomaniac. Volume 1 revolves around the protagonist, a beautiful Charlotte Gainsbourg. In this way we have the story of this girl, a convinced nymphomaniac, from her sexual awakening, to chapters of her life where she seems to see morality lost. Von Trier, the director and screenwriter, has prepared a film for us of 5 hours and a half, from which a good part of the duration has been extracted, to make two films without an extreme duration.

The director has not opted for explicit sex scenes. He focused on telling a story, despite expectations. And that’s all very well. The film Nymphomaniac. Volume 1 has an exquisite montage. In addition to the above, it has some stellar apparitions. For example, Christian Slater‘s and Uma Thurman‘s, which give level to this film. Therefore, and with all the above mentioned, it will not be the best film in history. But it is entertaining and therefore has an average grade of almost 7. It will leave you wanting to see Nymphomaniac. Volume 2, which will be a lot wilder.
